Welcome to Downtown LaFayette's
New Web Site

The LaFayette Downtown Development Authority welcomes you to our website.

LaFayette is home to about 6,700 residents and is the county seat of Walker County. Following an 18-month process uniting local and state elected officials, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), city staff, business owners, civic groups and residents in their goal to revitalize the city’s old commercial area through historic preservation, the city received its designation as an official Georgia Main Street Community in 2007.

Our website is divided into six main sections:

· DDA and Main Street introduces you to the DDA’s board members who manage the Main Street program, outlines the program’s organizational structure and explains how you can get involved in the Main Street program.

· Historical Links explores the city’s rich history and offers links to historic sites of interest in this area.

· The Monthly Calendar lists upcoming community events and allows you to submit your event for consideration to be posted on the calendar.

· Business of the Month recognizes a downtown business that consistently provides a high level of service, goes beyond reasonable expectations to serve a customer in a special circumstance or is actively involved in community service efforts. A different outstanding business is highlighted each month.

· The Downtown Map helps you locate businesses and sites of interest in downtown.

· Downtown Events features photos of previous downtown events and additional news on future events. LaFayette strives to preserve our rich heritage and small-town values while planning for the future.

We hope you enjoy browsing our website to learn more about downtown and what we have to offer, and seeing why LaFayette is truly “the Queen City of the Highlands.” We hope you will visit us soon.
